The challenge
The client's retail data was spread across multiple operational systems, with POS, ERP, and e-commerce data following different structures and refresh cycles. Reporting depended on repeated transformations and manual reconciliation, making it difficult to maintain consistent business definitions across teams.
The organization needed a scalable data foundation that could consolidate these sources, improve data reliability, and support analytics without disrupting existing operations.
Our approach
WizeTek designed an Azure-based lakehouse architecture using Azure Data Factory, Databricks, and Delta Lake. Automated ingestion pipelines brought source data into standardized processing layers, where validation, transformation, and business rules could be applied consistently.
Curated datasets were then prepared for Power BI, giving reporting teams a governed source for common measures and reducing the amount of transformation required inside individual reports.
The outcome
The new platform established a centralized foundation for retail reporting and analytics, with repeatable pipelines, clearer data ownership, and consistent transformation logic across source systems.
Business and analytics teams gained a more reliable view of operational data, while the architecture created a stronger foundation for future reporting, advanced analytics, and AI use cases.
